Hansen House, Finnikia, Oia; Santorini, GreklandFinnikia is a very old genuine village from the time of the Fenizians. The village is situated in the outskirts of the famous Oia. The walk by foot is about 300 meters.
In the village of Finnikia, there is no traffic other than donkeys transporting tourists luggage or other things used in the daily life. There are quite a lot of churches – smaller and bigger – the mos timprotant is the Matron situated in the middle in the village.
You can get excellent food to good price, at the two restaurants – Krinaki and MezeMeze. This summer opens a genuine bar/café situated in the former winecellar of mr. Tassos, the son of the village.
Year around living inhabitants in the village are some between 60-100 persons. In the spring, summer and autumn greeks living in Athens come to their summerhouses in Finnikia, tourists love the village very much because of the silence and the genuinity.
The village have a good supply with drinking water from the water communal waterworks in Oia. You have water directly in your tap and not by tankingtruck. There are also communal arrangement form wastewater, continuous garbage collection and cleaning by the small alleys. Light poles make you feel safe and you never have to go in the dark to get by your house.
B3We bought our property in 2004 and immediately started a process of renoveration and modernisation. This job was executed by a wellknown interior designer from Santorini, Freideriki Nomikou, color selction and material were choosen so that the tradition of Santorini was completed and the cultural values were preserved at the same time the demands of modern functionality were obtained.
Everything in the renovationprocess was followed up by the designer/architect and resultated in high quality and very nice looking.
Since then, we have maintenanced and ongoing improved the property and its beauty and functionality now is yeararound, excellent to our standards and demands on a good life and living.
The property area/surface is in total 318 squaremeters and is actually three different apartments.
This area is distributed over two cavehouses (B1 and B2) connected with oneanother. Those houses have each a “Maroccan windtower” where light and light come in, of course there are other windows too.
Our beautiful white washed house contents the third apartment; it is a traditional fantastic Santorinian independent house(B3).
Each apartment (cavehouses) and the independent house can be used as a separate apartment – in the following text we call them B1, B2 and B3.
All floors have new clinkers in terracotta, the bathroomfloors are midblue and the walls are in mosaic in matching colurs. All walls are plastered and whitewashed.
The houses/apartments are very well equipped concerning power outlets as well inside as outside, lighting fixtures/luminaires for outdoor lighting are put up as well on houses as in walls and also outside the property entrance. Inside there are lots of spotlights in modern design.
There is also extra sewerage and drainageramps installed in order to protect the property in heavy rains.
Heating and cooling functions in a quite fantastic way in the cavehouses, while the are partly built in the special china clay typical for Santorini, the houses are isolated from cool as heat.
For further needs of heating – electric radiators are used.
All windows have mosquito nets.
House/apartment B1 is 65 sqm and contents a bigger livingarea with wonderful fireplace, nice to warm up by chilly springevenings. There is also a separate sleepingroom, a big bathroom with washingmachine and a welle equipped kitchen with stove with oven, fridge and freezer and a dishwasher, sink in white marble.
B2 consists of 35 sqm, a livingroom with pentry, sink in white marble, fridge and freezer a stove, separate sleepingroom and a bathroom with shower.
B3 is a separate house, almost as a dolls home, a small living room and separater sleeping room, a small bathroom with shower and a tinypentry with sink in marble, frigde and a small stove.
From all windows in this house ther is stunning views over the ocean. Connected to the house there is a separate little porch.
With entrance from the Inner terrace (look alike a Riad) ther is a separate storehouse, ca 13 sqm, used for garden tools and outdoor furniture.
Also there are two watercisterns, from the old times, though Santorini has always been an island where the inhabitants collected rainwater. Our cisterns are big and are underground; one holds 15 cubic meters and the other 10 cubic meters water.
The property has a huge, 40 sqm, cemented terrace surrounded by a garden of livetree, lavender, bougainvilla and cactus plants who can withstand drought in summer. From the terrace you have an amazing oceanview and or up to the mountain where the chapel of Maria is situated as sugar top on the top.
On the property there is an Inner terrace, a yard with bougainvilla and a pomgrante tree. In this place you can find leeward when the northern wind blows.
On the upper terrace, which also is the roof for B1 and B2, aprtly terraced and with full view over the Egean Sea.
We rent a private parkingplace at Finnikia Square with distance to the house in about 300 meters.
The property has a license for renting, EOT. All plans, maps and contracts are in best condition and every meter is properly legal and registered.
To the houses there goes wires for telephone and internet.
The closest beach i Baxedes Beach a 3 kilometers long beach with black lavasand and there are sunbeds to rent or if you want to be private …
A new walkway have been paved from the village down to Baxedes and this will shorten the distance to the beach to 1500 meters.
