Independent historic House i n an ancient village on the outskirts of the city of Lecce, a well-known baroque city in southern Italy. In the area, since the Middle Ages, important farmhouses flourished, which were the food support of the city itself. One of these was San Ligorio, a village now redeveloped in the central square where there is the historic home for sale, the small church of the Crucifix, located on the site of a previous Roman settlement, with the seventeenth-century effigies of Sant'Oronzo (patron saint of Lecce). On the square there is also the baronial palace which dates back to the fourteenth century, on which still stands the coat of arms of its last feudal lords who drew great wealth from the agricultural work that took place in the surrounding countryside, the Palmieri family. San Ligorio still retains the original layout of the 1300s, a period in which the Casale is already attested by the sources. This pretty and quiet village has retained its tranquility despite the nearby and modern city ring road. Its agricultural community has lived here for centuries, at the gates of Lecce, a few steps from the city, but living in the peace of these countryside. *** The house, dating back to 1700, is located in the central square of the village and has been lovingly restored and transformed into splendid lofts with mezzanines, original vaulted and wooden ceilings with a central beam made from a single tree, original stone fireplaces of the time and terracotta floors handmade in Tuscany and treated to prevent them from absorbing liquids.
