Property Description
The Cherry orchard is located on the sunny hills of eastern parts of Romania, about 8 km from Barlad City. In 2015 the 4 hectares were planted in super-intensive regime , benefitting of modern fert-irrigation system. The dripping system allows an optimum dosage of water and nutrients to reach to every tree. The approx. 6600 trees are having Gisela 5 rootstock, which very vigorous and resilient. The three types of cherries, Regina, Kordia and Merchant are sweet, very large, dark red, firm, with a crunchy texture and eye appeal. They are well known for a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.The orchard is watered by a 100 meters deep well with a pure water rich in minerals, imprinting the fruits a wonderful taste and texture. The water well is artesian, which means the water comes with high pressure to the surface without the need of a pump, solving the water availability without additional cost. The water is collected in a 200 m3 basin which is feeding the irrigation system. The three cherry type are ripening gradually, starting with the first half of June (Merchant), continuing to end of June (Kordia) and going up to first half of July (Regina) , which allows a steady supply on the harvesting season.
The orchard is located in an area protected by anti-hail systems operated by the government, which diminishes the hail risk. Operation of all required processes (anti-pesticide spraying, weed cutting, grass trimming, etc.) are done using specialized equipment (tractor, atomizer, cutter, etc.). The orchard benefits of a perimetral monitoring & intruder alarm system and CCTV system. The orchard harvest potential is 12-16 tones / hectare, which means a yearly production of 48 – 64 tones. The fruits are firm and big, with average caliber above 24 and reaching up 30+ mm, which places these cherries into deluxe category, meeting the highest quality requirements.
The total plot area is 4.7 hectares, of which 0.7 hectares (7000 m2 ) are free and can be utilized for other activities. The plot is located conveniently on the proximity of E581 road, making the location suitable for a large variety of activities.
